This paper focuses on learners and learning across educational contexts including geographical, historical, and cultural settings. In this paper we will explore some key theories of learning and development that help us to understand the multitude of factors that influence learners and learning in a given context. This paper is designed to deepen students' understanding of diverse learners and learning environments and encourages students to apply that understanding to professional practice.

This course is taught over a 12-week trimester, and it combines face-to-face and online teaching and learning. The face-to-face content is delivered via a block week, and the online content is delivered via Moodle. It is expected that you attend all face-to-face sessions, and that you engage with the online content.

In this course, students are required to:

  • attend the block week at the start of the semester (8-10 March)
  • engage with the online course content
  • complete the required assessments
  • engage with the readings
